I think writing the blogs allowed us to form a connection with the class and get feedbacks sort of like a one-on-one interaction with a classmate. One thing we got from writing these blogs is that we actually get to know which people in the class that have similar thoughts about a certain assignment or exercise we did in class as I do myself. It gave us a chance to express our mind about things we didn't want to say out loud in class and get opinions from people regarding the topic. Like the personal profiling, through the blog posts, I found out that many of them were in the C section or wants to be a C. Which we neevr got around in class to ask everyone, but with the blog, you get to know everyone's thoughts on what they felt about the exercise. Although, this is a great way to speak your mind and you can express all you want, but I don't think I'll be continuing with this blog after the class is over. Only because I hate writing, period. I mean I got other ways of communicating with people through facebook. But, maybe later in life if I really want to express something deep inside of me that's bothering me and I don't feel comfortable talking to people aboput my problem, I might continue or reopen this blog and write. Until tha t day comes, I don't think I'll have much time to do the blog after this class is over. I love the class because those cool and weird group excersices were fun and unique which I had never done in any other classes ever. It was COOL!!

Personal Profiling

This experiment was pretty cool. At first I had no idea where the questions would lead to at the end with all those letters W, Q, X , and Y. The counting and connecting dots made me very curious in how that will be able to determine what kind of person I am. The result was pretty accurate, by the way I'm in the big C small I area. Conscientiousness-emphasis on working conscientiously within existing circumstances to ensure quality and accuracy. And Influence- emphasis on shaping the environment by influencing or persuading others. Everything that I do I always aim for perfection or near it at the same time try to influence and persuade others to agree with my ideas and way of handling situations with the goal of reaching perfection with no mistakes. I'm the type of person who don't really like to make the final decision because there's too much responsibility that goes along with it. I had experience that before where I made the final decision but the end result was bad and I was pretty much the blame for everything and that feeling was definitely not an enjoyment. After that time I really don't like to make the final say with anything. I only give advises, therefore D's not the group for me. This result might not me 100% accurate but it's near enough. The reason that I think it's not 100% dependable is because for some questions the choices were hard to decide because I feel like I fit in between two of the choices and I just pick whichever that comes first so it might not be too true. Overall it was a coll experience.

Power of Vision

The power of vision is something that can motivate a person to be ambitious and work hard to achieve it. My visions for the future is fill with both personal and professional wants. Personally, I want to learn to speak Korean Fluently on the express line FAST! so that I can travel to Korea and meet my Korean Idol, TOP! Be friends with him and keep our chemistry floating. For that to happen, I would need to sign up for Korean lessons and make friends with more Korean Friends to get there faster. People say I look Korean, so maybe I do have some Korean genes in me. Hahaha. I would so want that to happen in the near future. My second vision is seeing myself become successful and have my own business called Wuhu! It will be a family business where as a family we work to make money at the same time build a closer tied with each other. It would be very cool. It will be a business that provides 5 star high class resturant on 5th Ave and has a stylish bar in the center of the room with a romantic atmosphere. It will serve American/Asian Food. Another thing that I want is to buy a big mansion with ocean/beach view that has a big swimming pool, a tennis court and the newest Ferrari sport car parked in the garage. Need to work super super hard for this vision to become a reality.

Decision Making

Using our exam grade to bring about this decision making experiment was an excellent idea. When everyone's concerned about their grades they tend to put more effort into ideas and ways to make their score higher. From the slide of "How people handle conflict" my position followed an order of compete to win, avoidance, compromise, then collaborating. At the beginning when we were told we can decide the changes we want for our grade and the test format I was prepared and ready thinking of ideas and solutions. But then the class went went crazy, people started to shout and scream their own ideas. At that point I was in the avoidance stage because the ones that were shouting helped me expressed my position of what I wanted. Dropping the lowest grade and change the format into MC majority questions so I just sat back. Then as the problem went on, the disagreements continued and the time was running out, we still haven't agreed on anything yet. That was when the compromising and collaborating stage came in. I decided to take a look at other options out there on the broad and agreed on something of what I wanted what some other people wanted with short answers and true or false questions. I made changed my standing slightly so we can come to a conclusion sooner. At that point the collaborating also occurred where we had to bargain with the ones that were standing strong on their wants and negotiate a compromise. I changed my standing position because of the time we have left and we still haven't come up with an agreement. Overall, the process was hard and pressured when we have till the end of the class to come up with a decision where everyone agree on. When I think over the situation now, I think my position would be focused on compromising and collaborating because with a huge group of people it's impossible to come up with a solution if you don't give up something for the good of the whole. Compromising is the best solution to all problems. As long as the other side doesn't get all of what they want you won't feel cheated or unfair.

Planning egg-drop process

STEP 1: Determining the goal: When we were told to come up with a plan
to design a nest or whatever to prevent the egg from cracking when drop
from a high distant with just straws and tapes under 20 something minute
planning and 10 minute to create.Half the egg must be visible and with
lots of pressure involved. This was a very hard task.

STEP 2: Knowing our only resources are straws and tapes,my group and I
first asked each other, see if anyone has any great ideas or not.

STEP3: develop the strategies:We all contributed what we had in mind
with building a half nest to protect the egg.And then two other member
of the group came up with something to support the egg from hitting
the ground by producing something like legs with the straws. We combined
those two ideas and created our rocket egg. None of us were great artists
so we scrambled something that was close to the structure and we wasted
the whole front and back of the piece of paper.

STEP 4: Before we got the resources to perform the task, we also talked
about who 's the shortest and has a great sense of balance to go and
drop the egg. Then when we got the straws and tapes and started to build
the model we all went crazy and kept rushing because there was
no time. We wrapped half the egg with straws circling around it and made
a cap like bottom with extended straws to separate the distance of egg from
the ground. We needed the scissors to cut the Straws to make the legs but
that one scissors was nowhere to be found and a member of our group
was like "we need a plan B" since we can't get our hands on that
scissors. So we did our best to make those legs without the scissors,
it's just that it's longer and we decided that the extended straws
will play the part of a defense around the egg. (which at the end we
found that it was useless.)

STEP 5: When the time was ticking with just seconds left the member of
our group rushed to make those legs steady and supportive enough to not
bend with tapes allover it and make sure the egg doesn't slips out of the
straws nest.up to perform the egg dropping. Our egg unfortunately was no
success. The misfortune may have been caused due to the balance of how
the egg was dropped and the way we put the egg together was not protective
enough for the egg to survive the gravity pull and force pushed around it.

Managing payments on time with no hassles.

I have a big responsibility in the family, that is, I do all billing statements monthly. Therefore I can't risk being late for any one payments or else it would make me look like I can't manage time in life too well. And my parents will take the late fee charges. Which in both ways is a lose lose situation. My plan in managing this task without having to waste too much of my time every month to write checks and mailing them, I do all payments online with a credit card. That credit card's not just ANY credit card, but one that provides cash back/dividends in return. That way I can save myself time and be able to make 1-3% cash back on all bills that I pay.

This managing task comes in steps. First off, I have to setup accounts online for all the companies that I need to make payments to. Then, I have to make a reminder to myself of all the payment's due dates. This chart table is posted next to my computer organized in the order off times that payments are due. I Group all of them according to due dates, so that I can make a one time pay with all of them taht are due around the same week on that one day. After I make the payments I write down the confirmation number on the bill to make record that I've paid the bill. Since all these are credit card paid, I much then make the credit card payment. I do this by doing transfer transcations online through my banking account. That way I also save myself the hassle to go to the bank. This is a no hassle responsibility as long as I can pay the bills on time.
**P.S. money are on the account through direct deposits from work...

About Me*

Hey everyone! My name's Maggie Wu. I'm a sophomore at Baruch. I just got back on Sunday from my Winter break in China. Still adjusting with the time change. I stayed for Chinese New Year with my families, but the foggy cold weather ruined everything. The streets were pretty much empty, there wasn't much of a New Year mood. I was disappointed. Anyways, although I'm Chinese but I love everything that's Korean: food, music, movies, dramas and etc. My next vacation destination's also Korea. I'm a full time student and also work part time on the weekends. I go online very often to watch Korean/Chinese dramas. Um... that's all I can think of for now. I would love to hear from all of you soon. ;p
